Lehman Brothers established a venture capital investing effort in 1995. The primary investment objective of the Venture Capital Group is to make growth-oriented equity or equity-related investments in privately held companies, focusing on making investments in companies capable of turning innovative technology and management solutions into successful businesses. Accordingly, investment preference is not confined to particular industries, but instead to any industry which is capable of rapid growth through the provision of innovative technology and/or services.
The Venture Capital Group currently manages in excess of $700 million, $250 million of which was committed in 2001. To date, the Venture Capital Group has invested more than $420 million in more than 50 companies across a broad range of industries.
The Venture Capital Group maintains offices in New York, Silicon Valley and Los Angeles.
